Best and worst football statues

Manchester City were the latest club to unveil a player's statue, as the club honoured former striker Sergio Aguero with an impressive monument located at the Etihad Stadium.

The statue depicts Aguero's ecstatic celebration after netting the winner against Queens Park Rangers to lead Manchester City to their first ever Premier League title.

"Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me, to see myself 10 years ago is very moving," said Aguero.

"In those 10 years I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the club become one of the most important in the world."

Aguero may have enjoyed the ceremony, with his statue being admittedly stunning, but there are other players who may not have been happy with the end result. Let's take a look at the best and worst football statues.

Best football statues

Sir Alex Ferguson, Old Trafford

His bronze statue was unveiled by his wife Lady Cathy in 2012 when Manchester United celebrated his 25 years at the Red Devils.

Zidane Materazzi, Paris

Sculpted by Algerian artist Adel Abdesseme, the statue was unveiled back in 2012 outside the Pompidou Centre in Paris. It depicts Zinedine Zidane's famous headbutt on Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final.

Lev Yashin, Moscow

It is one of the most impressive football statues ever scuttled. Inspired by the original monument of Alexander Rukavishnikov, Yashin's statue is located at the Petrovsky Park, in Moscow.

Worst football statues

Cristiano Ronaldo, Madeira, Portugal

The fact that Ronaldo's family asked for that statue to be replaced speaks for itself.

Carlos Valderrama, Santa Marta, Colombia

Situated at the entrance of the Eduardo Santos Stadium, the Colombia legend's statue is not one of the prettiest you'll see.
